[ Idle dusty moments pass slowly, ]

Idle dusty moments pass slowly,
I watch my grandfather fight the blanket
he uses as a cover,
He tugs and pulls and mumbles that he wants his Mommy,
Tears slip from my eyes.
I gently stroke his cheek and tuck him in.
A fairytell whispers its way forward
as I tell him a bedtime story.
He says, "Night Mommy, I love you",
I kiss his forhead and pray that the Angels
keep him safe till morning light.
We repeat this routine nightly as he regresses
more and more.
Alzheimers has stolen his mind, and left
a child behind.
Tomorrow will be just like today,
and again he will forget my name,
and I will play the role of mother.

I love you PawPaw..
I miss You....

Wow, this was amazing and so very sad. My
father lived with me after my mother passed
and he had alzheimers. I also worked in a
nursing home with many alzheimer patients.
This really touched me because I was able to
relate to it so well. I know what you are
going through. You did a terrific job on
this poem. the rythem and flow were great
and you did an amazing job.
