Giddy Girl

She claps her hands in joy filled glee
Like a little child she is free
Giddy as an adolescent in love
She is a divine gift from above

With a smile so friendly and warm
Who would know beneath lies a heart torn
Life has been cruel tearing her apart
Love has ripped pieces from her heart

I look inside and see Jesus there
To him she has laid her soul bare
He graciously covered her shame
He took away false guilt and blame

Now she stands firm and tall
Able to reveal what’s behind her wall
Now she’s able to laugh and smile
Taking away burdens of others for a while

To be near her is a joyous delight
In a dark, lonely world she is light
Her warmth spreads to everyone near
With her hope, she replaces fear

She claps her hands in joy filled glee
Like a little child she is free
Giddy as an adolescent in love
She is a divine gift from above

Author notes

My friend visited me at my desk at work. I showed her a poem I had written about her. She clapped with giddy delight. She reminds me of a child who is free of inhibitions. I don't think she realizes how much life and warmth she brings with her smile and giddiness.

With childish glee - so carefree and happy like a child. The reactions a young girl would make when she is pleased about something - that giggle and that clapping - very vision filled lines you have written here. Liked the flow, rhythm and rhyme in these lines.
