I can't get your face out of my head
It haunts me like a screaming banshee in the dead of night
I see your face there, awaiting the setence
You look so young, so full of life
Where did you take the wrong turn?
What transfixed you to do what you did?
Why did you let go of reason?
What has happened to you?
In your dark, beautiful eyes I see that you realize
the reality of the situation you are in
You are numb, you are cold
You know that you are going to die
Yet something in them cries out for more
a longing of some sort, perhaps a yearning
for the freedom you know will never come to you
Your face has bewitched me
I can't quit thinking of it
Why do you torment me so?
Making it so that I can't sleep at night
I think of you instead
I want to help you, but I don't know how
Somehow comfort you before you die
reach out with love of God
and save your soul before it's too late
But I won't ever meet you
There isn't a thing I can do for you
Yet you haunt me, man in the picture
You beg for me to save you
It haunts me like a screaming banshee in the dead of night
I see your face there, awaiting the setence
You look so young, so full of life
Where did you take the wrong turn?
What transfixed you to do what you did?
Why did you let go of reason?
What has happened to you?
In your dark, beautiful eyes I see that you realize
the reality of the situation you are in
You are numb, you are cold
You know that you are going to die
Yet something in them cries out for more
a longing of some sort, perhaps a yearning
for the freedom you know will never come to you
Your face has bewitched me

Why do you torment me so?
Making it so that I can't sleep at night

Author notes
I saw a picture of a man setenced to die for murder he committed while high on drugs. In his picture he looks so young and cold...and I just can't get him out of my head. It makes want to help guys and girls like him, before they end up in the situation he is in.
Please tell me what you think

i know what you mean..i saw a pic of a woman sentenced to death once, their eyes have a horribly haunted look about them..its so sad..and youve penned this perfectly...wow

Aww =( you have to be a really kind and compassionate person to write a poem like this for someone you don't know, but know has done something punishable by death. And despite that, you'd want to save them, which I think is really good =). It seems death is a bit of a harsh punishment if he did it while he was high, and without all of his senses. Drugs are illegal... he shouldn't have done them, but hey, I dunno the full story
.
Either way--
GREAT job
diggin it majorly

hmmmmm... this is very interesting... very good... the one thing i will say though is that this one didn't make me feel much... idk maybe its just that i dont have the same passion as u do.. but its good all the same

Well...this is very moving me to me...I believe that people's actions are based apon nature and nurture. If a child is brought of badly then there is a good chance they could also turn out bad. but there are some people who are just pure evil, even with the best of a life. Sometimes, we can not save them. For all we know, this man had a hard life. but for all we know, he had a good life but was just a horrible person. Either way, we could not save him and in the end, he ruined someone elses world. But here is what we can do. We can do what we can for others, to help them. And you'll be surprised what good things will come from it. But as for the poem, I think it is powerful and a great write. keep that pen flowing.
