It was an age of passage
rite of arrogant obscurity,
privilege assumed and acted upon
as if no one else mattered so much.
Could be hidden as if never
buried forever beneath conscience
untarnished stars gleaming above
as the burning bush, liar fire;
in the mind's eye, idolatry born
of practiced indulgence; selective
eclectic thrills, [oh these words
closed even to first eyes,]
pen choking drivel; for truth
flies like a white dove in morning
glistening against a sky
made blue by waters of forgiveness.
Forgotten not
intolerant life is a wedge
lifting unending bending of
knees to ground, head to knee;
sympathy to empathy,
a genuflect to always.
Wanderer's choice: Tombstone legend,
or simply...goodbye;
oh, dearest wounds,
yet might let love heal.
