Deep where indigo is merging,
where the light on coral quivers,
love was born upon the dawning
of that passionate summer day.
Where the seahorse glides and gambles,
and the moray snaps his welcome,
deep within a secret cavern
merfolk met where seaweed sways.
'Twas a moment that seemed mystic,
Neptune's blessing touched soft ebbing.
Twisting, turning in the current
I watched those creatures dance and play.
Shimmering with wondrous colours,
tails entwined in their courting
As the sunlight spiralled downward
their loving took my breath away.
There such beauty touched by sun glow,
There he wooed her with such passion
till sapphire shades turned to violet
and still there bodies gently swayed.
With a flick of tail they vanished,
leaving me with sense of wonder,
I had seen love's awakening
In two merfolk,on that day.

Good job on the meter. While the whole 'sea creature romance' is not my...usual subject that I would read, lol, I still thought you kept it interesting with the detailed imagery. Well done. Thanks for entering and good luck.

You paint such a lovely picture with this beautiful poem my dear friend. The sea always brings about such sweet and beautiful dreams.

A rare glimps into the aquadic depths. My favored lines;"There he wooed her with such passion
till sapphire shades turned to violet". One can envision sun streaming down in filtered shafts upon them. Till that indigo turned violet in the night. Lovely poem!Reminds me of that old sixties tune by April Stevens and Nino Temple,"When the deep purple falls".

this has a deepening sense to it, as it draws the reader inward towards the realm of the poem and you can hear the sea and all its beauty before you. A magical write, quite unfamiliar with the meter to say anything of it, only that the sounds of it flowing as I read was quite stunning. A beautiful write!
