Sometimes when the oppressed have nowhere else to turn, there is war. Yes, it is normally a tool for the power elite to control and abuse those they consider below them. The lust for power and profit are the normal causes for the prosecution of war. True evil indeed. Macabre - taken from the zealots of Masada who chose suicide rather than yield before the yoke of the Romans. I don't quite understand its use here. While persecuting war is quite reprehensible, war in true defense against violent oppression is sometimes the only choice left.
While I admit our global society is indeed a violent place, as long as there are those who wish to oppress, there will be those who defend.
    Peace be with you

The world is the stage all nations play on and how they play is watched by the pages of history....there are never any winners in war only death and destruction...why do we insist on playing this well used play each act worse than the last.A very zennish post.... so much said in so few words. Congratulations on the bronze.*Clappy*
