Aava

Saaren aavaa iloa jaan,
eloa oli aikani autuaata.

Soutaen oudon saaren opin.
Ilmaa ja haave se ollut ei.
...
..
.
Kovan myrskyn riistävä kauhu,
väkisin riisti rujon kehon.

Koskaan kauneutta kokemaan
tule en ikinä.
Niinkuin saari minut silloin sai.

Author notes

The poem was written to show how a language can be soft (beginning of the poem) and hard (the end). I posted this here to prove that poetry can be beautiful even though one does not necessarily understand the language.

    Ah..... it does not translate the same into english. The poetic devices just don't read the same. But it is good to enlighten and stretch the mind of the reader. Beautifully penned.

      I know that the translation is not the same as the original, but at least it gives a idea about what the poem tries to tell.

    well expressed, and well written, although i didnt understand o bit of it, i can see why certain characters and symbols throughout different languages have meaning, almost an artistic way....

      Thanks for your comment, yeah the point with this poem is to show that a language and poetry can have beauty through how it looks and sounds, even though one does not understand a word.
