♥12 Roses♥

One rose to say I love you

red is painted in every hue.

The second to show my joy

seeds of love you did deploy.

My third rose, I tenderly give

always know, for you I'll live.

The fourth rose is etched in perfection,

it's all I see as I peer at your reflection.

The fifth is for your passionate beautiful heart,

we may be away sometimes, but never apart.

Another rose to show my care,

by your side, I'm always there.

The seventh rose is for almost two years together,

when I say I love you, I mean I will love you forever.

The eighth is for love so true,

the definition of love is you.

Number nine holds your strength and hope,

Through any tribulations I know you'll cope.

The tenth shows how much you truly mean to me,

to my heart, I want you to know you hold the key.

Number eleven lights up our path,

my dearest, you are my other half.

The final rose includes all the above and more,

you are the only one I'll love and always adore.

Author notes

I love you.

Sugar sweet, seems superficial, but the language and rhythm bespeak a truer, deeper, more satisfying flavor.

an opinion only...your poems would be better if more metaphores were implied...you have a great talent for expressing your feelings in words, so why not up the ante and break out your original side?
not that your phrasings arent original...the only thing is that love poems are cliche, so you almost have to be fantastic to garner fantastic response in the reader...
well either way, i still enjoyed this, just trying to give you feedback

This is just off the wall, the most poetic description of love seen in the giving of a dozen roses I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

Makes me wonder how I missed the thought on this, I'd have been as proud as punch to have been the author.

    well done, extremely well done.

    Awe.

Awww. Did someone have Valentines day in mind? Or was this a gift of sorts? It's very cute, and one of my favorite love poems I've read. I was kinda thinking of this quote when I first saw the title:

"He gave her 11 real roses, and one fake one. He told her he'd love her, until the last rose died".

    && my favorite part:
"The fourth rose is etched in perfection,
it's all I see as I peer at your reflection."

And yet, another quote. Sorry. :]
"Loving someone isn't about finding the perfet person. It's about finding an imperfetct person, and loving them perfectly."

Never before have roses symbolised so very much. What a beautiful expression of your love and commitment. Congratulations on the gold and bronze; you deserve them.

This is beautiful... I wrote a poem by the same title almost three years ago [also in couplets, if you can believe it], though it was freeverse and had a darker spin to it... I really enjoyed the rhyme, though. For the most part, it didn't sound forced or fake, and you definitely sound very in-love.

Congrats on your accomplishments in the other contests, and my best wishes to you and your special one. Bravo!

    Love and light always,
