Hold me tightly as I sleep
Escaping to my only refuge
The bittersweet silence of children’s dreams
(Broken Hearts, Broken Minds)
See the scars
Faded lightly
Reminders of the past
Thoughts dimmed slightly
Gun so fair
Peace I find
Tragic end to my
Tortured Mind
Such peace in the nightfall, the quiet of the evening
Such serenity in a time so fair
Flooding back into my mind
Memories I never wanted to find
Nightmares I tried so hard to forget
Fears so old they no longer upset
Lock them back up child and throw away the key
These are images you should never see
Turmoil and torture corrupting your mind
Ideas that will beat you and words that will bind
I'm dying
From the pain
Lying
To keep sane
Crying
Like the rain
It's all in vain
I can't forget your name
So take one last look
As you old life sings
Look into the air
You've found your wings
Twinkle twinkle broken star
How I wonder where you are
Hiding in your world so dark
Searching for a single spark
The end of an era for a lonely child
Stumbling to find a new way
Darkened past
Light of hope
Rainbow of present
How do you cope?
Frightened Child
Behind the veil
Hidden tears
Of fear and betrayal
You take the world right out of my eyes
But you don't realise I wont beleive your lies
Emotions soaring
Yet she is numb
The Strong One emerges
What she has become
(never to live a normal life) Never to submit to broken memories
And now as strange hands touch you skin
You lie in ignorance, hiding within
But it is within your nightmares dwell
And the shadow men you know so well
I so desperately want
To be the child I never met
I want to know the innocence
Of a heart not tainted
By man and demon alike
A flash in the dark
Of a blade so clean
Memories of remorse
Thoughts left unseen
The Strong Smiling Girl
Doesn't want others to see
The weak sad girl
She was destined to be
Silent screaming
Cries within
Regret for failure
Regret for sin
Weary one
Lost from birth
Delusions of strength
Hope of worth
A flash of pain
A scene of regret
Sometimes a smile
My own past first met
Can't hold onto the reality that's mine
Feelings so vivid, if not evil, divine
Crying out to the stars of the night
Too weak, too scared, to continue this fight
So here she will stay
Beneath the stars
Count them,
How many?
The same as her scars
A new way, a new turn
I'm taking those steps tonight
The sunset marks the end of my childhood
The beginning of a new fight
Cool wind blowing through my hair
My head raised towards the sky
Golden rivers leading to night
The last birds flying around up high
Paint me a whisper
Softly in my ear
Tell me I'm safe
Theres nothing to fear
Looking up at you in the moonlight
Its beam seeming to shine on us alone
Author notes
For me, some of my impact comes in rhyming, which means most of these are sets of 4 lines that make one phrase. hope thats ok...

This is one of my favorites. I think it would sound really good as part of a spoken word piece. The last line too, about the moonlight is another one of my favorites.
Thank you for sharing some of your best lines with us.
