Can a child really fly, Like wild birds up in the sky,
Looping and spinning aloft,
And while soaring there, Bounce on clouds with out care,
To see if they really are soft?
Upon leaving that fleece, Can you join wild geese,
And fly as a part of the flock,
Flying over the trees, With butterflies and bees,
Or is this really just talk?
Yes, you can fly with birds, if you say the magic words,
Spread your arms and just fly away.
Fly over the storm, To where the sunlight is warm,
At least that is what some people say.
If you’d like to try, To spread your arms out and fly,
You need to learn those magic words,
Well, if I knew, I would tell them to you,
So you’ll have to go ask the birds.

Good poem Del!
This was just about right. If I could understand and appreciate this nice poem, I'm sure a two year old would as well. You said "Wild Birds"! Are there any other kind?LOL
Hope you do good in this. Maybe with the winnings, you'll post some of that great cowboy poetry for some of us "city slickers" to see!
Best regards,
John

First of all, thank you for entering my contest. Just by doing this you are giving hope to everyone that this has affected. I really enjoyed the flow and rhyming of this piece. The way you described the experience of flying, tied with the mystery of those magic words is really great. Thanks again for your entry, and good luck in the contest!
