You were curled within a world of warmth,
serenely sucking your thumb.
You listened to your mother's heartbeat,
unable to imagine the trials to come.
This morning just a passenger,
not much to do but sleep.
Tonight, you lie behind cold glass,
and we pray the Lord your soul to keep.
The world would say the chance is slim--
that so much could go wrong.
But our faith does not depend on them,
but the One who's held you all along.
The power of death is inevitable,
it takes us sooner or later.
But tonight, your family rests in this;
your Father's power is greater.

This really strikes a chord with me, as I also lost a nephew this past summer, and it was really sad. But, like you, I realized I would see him again in the next life, and I am glad you are finding comfort from that.

I can truly relate to this poem because I have a family member dying from terminal cancer rite now and all we can do is rest assured that God is great and will make things happen in the best way...I especially lovee how your poem ends - "But tonight, your family rests in this; your Father's power is greater." Good luck and I will pray for your niece n hope she is still with us.

This is very moving. I like the last stanza best. It is so true. Praise God that Jesus' death breaks the power of death. As you know, I'm praying for little Abby Lynn
-
touching write. I will pray for your neice. I hope she makes it.

Wow... I'm so sorry that you have to go through something so tragic. This almost made me cry, but it is true what you say. The power of God is greater than that of any man, and in times like these, all we can do is ask for His help. I will keep you and your family, especially little Abby, in my prayers.
Love and light always,
Laura, aka Immortal
