Eighty-Three Soldiers

eighty-three soldiers come home today
prayers were answered some will say
but there's more to this story to be told
about these men and women brave and bold

Private Cory the youngest of the platoon
lies on a stretcher, he'll need medicine soon
Seventeen are in wheelchairs and strapped down
paralyzed or missing limbs, yet they don't frown

instead, upon their faces you will find
grief stricken, mixed with a peace of mind
a strange combination, there is no doubt
they are going home, but with a cargo of clout

twenty of their comrades, all lined up in a row
neatly covered with the flag, their buddies will tow
they fought bravely and proud, for both you and I
never questioning morals or ethics, nor asking why

families will await, as the soldiers disembark
some will cheer, the reaction of others will be stark
one thing's for certain, we see this more and more
isn't it time we find a way, to put an end to this war

YES...it is soo time that we end this war...to may young men and women have had to scarifice their lives for this senseless blood shed...and I love them everyone for it, i don't even have to know them, they gave their lives for their country...and for that they are heros....to some people heros wear capes...to me heros wear combat boots

I agree, this war should end. Are we really benefiting from it anymore? It has already been 7 years. Many soldiers have come home but how many more don't?
