Whats that little feeling I get,
When I am in the gate?
As the adrenaline pumps through my horse and me,
As I let her go and my stomach lurches and I forget about all else,
As she drops her shoulder and turns the first,
As she powers toward second and turns a perfect barrel,
As I let her go towards the third and I feel her power through my reins,
As she turns the last barrel and runs for all she's worth back through that gate.
Whats that little feeling I get,
When I hop off my horse after a perfect run?
As she bounces around and I run my hand down her sleek, sweaty neck,
As I hear my time and a smile breaks onto my face,
As I give her one more pat and turn to lead her back to the trailer,
As I take her bridle off and let her rub her head on me to get rid of an ich,
As I tie her leadrope to the trailer and grab the bucket full of water for her,
As I stand there and hold it as she gulps it down,
As I give her one more kiss on the nose and turn to join the others at the arena,
As I smile to myself and think "I really do love that horse."
There's one word for that little feeling I get, happiness
