My Monster Friend

Mom please sleep with me tonight.
I am afraid of the dark.
Someone will creep in through the window
and scare me.

Don't worry my child I'll shut this window tight.
No one can enter it,
Now take a fairy land ride.

I sleep with my eyes tightly shut.
My mind still on the window.
The tree's shadow is trying to scare me
But i know it is just a tree
It cannot walk to me.

I hear a tap on my window,
I hold my teddy close to my heart
My heart is also making sounds.
I want to scream but voice doesn't come out.

I open my eyes and see a monster on my window.
I get scared but I cant stop my stare.
He is shivering in the cold outside.
Why did his mother leave him alone in the night?

I let him in and he smiles
he looks scared and I calm him down.
We talk, we laugh, we play and then sleep.
He went away when the sun arrived.

Mother, I made friends with a monster last night.
Why are you laughing mother?
I'm not lying.

There's no thing like monster my child.
You must be dreaming last night.
I don't say anything to mom
and she forgets all about it.

My friend comes to me every night.
We talk, we laugh, we play and we sleep.
He goes away when the sun arrives

I'm not afraid of dark any more
I now know,
The world is how we wish to see it!

I love this story; I just simply love it. The little poor monster shivering in the cold outside... Such a beautiful sight you painted in my mind of a child letting the little monster in to the warm. Even though the language is a bit simple and there are few parts where the flow doesn't work that well, I love this story so very much. It's like a bedtime story that each child should learn. Never expect things to be as they look like, because they can so much different. Wonderful work with this one!
