They Are Heroes After All

You wear that uniform and you wear it proud
some will condemn you, mock you quite loud
but listen up soldier, I have quite a bit to say
you ignore those fools, they'll regret it one day

they don't understand the price you pay
the sacrifice's, so on your behalf, I'll relay
they start their journey by giving up their rights
even their body belongs to the governments plight

they're told how to dress, how to wear their hair
shave their face and issued regulation underwear
they haven't broken a law, not committed a crime
they can't bathe until they're told remove the grime

they have a drill sergeant in your face screaming orders
yet they stand firm and proud, no running for borders
they're tired and exhausted, but they continue to strive
'cause they understand this is what it takes to stay alive

weeks turn to months and they trained along side others
soon they become friends, more like sisters and brothers
orders get passed down for their first duty station
some shocked to find they won't stay in this nation

barely out of boot camp and they are sent to fight a war
now is when the sacrifices mount, families hearts will be torn
some will leave behind spouses, others children in tears
the one thing they all have in common, families with fears

these soldiers go to battle bravely, never questioning why
some may even disagree, but they stand proud for you and I
they deserve our utmost respect while away on foreign soil
they shouldn't read on the Internet how we let our tempers boil

so if they can go alone to fight for you and me
then can't we stand together and show them unity
so what if you don't agree with what they're fighting for
can't you bite your tongue until they are back on American shores

Don't let their vision of a united nation fall
they are OUR American Heroes...  after all

    HOODWINKED !!!

This is an excellent poem of support for our troops and a needed chastisment for those thoughtless protesters that ridicule those brave soldiers that put their lives on the line for our saftey and freedoms. We owe them so much, the very least should be our respect and graditude.

This poem is well written, flows eaisly and the rhyming is excellent! Very Good!

You have been Hoodwikned today by your Bandit Brothers and Sisters today because WE CARE!
