At The Edge

Missing image
Will I stand tall when faced with death’s abyss;
when standing at the edge of this dear world?
And seeing all my gravest deed unfurled;
be told “too late to make amends for this”

Like others faced at last with guilty shame,
I strive to grasp the remnants; shards of life.
While all around me now, regrets are rife;
alone I stand, will heaven know my name?

Maybe my God, my faults will understand
and say “my child, yourself you must forgive.
I gave you life that you were free to live;
but all that time I held you by the hand”.

If so, then I am ready now to fly;
to spread my wings and step out off the edge.
For what is life compared to heaven’s pledge?
When all, must one day kiss this world goodbye.

  • nice poem hope you get your wings.

  • This is inded an mazing piece taking us to the land of the wonders as well..nice immageries and great questions raised..well done..and congrats for the silver...
  • Incredible

    Both picture and this piece. As Ian Fleming said, "You only live twice: once when you're born, and once when you look death in the face." Best to tie up loose ends now and make at least the effort at amends for things regretful. But lovely expression and heart-striking tone!
