In the twilight of my life,
I look back and remember.
Seeing, in my great-grandson,
myself when young.
and wondering how he will face
the oncoming years.
Seeing the beauty
of my grandsons' partners,
and realising how relationships
have changed over the years.
Listening to the plans
of my grand-daughters' husbands,
and recalling the plans I once made,
all those years ago,
with the woman I married.
Sadly missed,
at the recent, first time ever,
of all twenty of our descendants
who have survived sixty-five years
of marriages, births and deaths.
Rest in peace, my darling.
We shall always remember you.
