Butterflies and Unicorns

quiet, reserved, she speaks with fire
that quickens the pulse
a soothing  confidant whose blood
can flow like wind over a glacier
solidifying would be assaults

In a darkened room of yesteryear
looms the ominous shadow of hopeless
how brave 'afraid' gives her strenghth
each day, her loving presence made known
her pen and ink touches us all near or far

Amidst the bland on a corner place
sit two smiles to adorn her face
butterflies and unicorn reminders
of the day and days to come;
our Riftkin will grace our pages

crystal, we all find it easy to tell our friends what they mean to us. But, when it is set in type the meaning stands clear

daisy, we all classify friends in terms of 'best', close' and otherwise. Once in awhile one comes along that fits all catagories and rift is one of many that fits them all

    Good write

I liked the last stanza allot, particularly,
"Amidst the bland on a corner place
sit two smiles to adorn her face"
Thanks for the entry and good luck in the contest

This is beautiful Joe, what a sweet thing to say and write about. I do not know Riftkin as well as you but she is a doll from what I do know. Wonderful penning. Well done.
