Jesus came up from Jericho
the golden dust settling on his back
his head bowed by all the sin
between the fish and the water bearer.
after etching in the goat paths
that led to the Parthenon
she caused her brush to be still
since she could not see
the tomb under the hill.
Her long fingers were expressive
but insincere
although she spoke of Love
with quick breaths and heaving breasts:
the poem was a beast
sensing its demise
it lashed out at the mortar and the brick
and fell by the wayside thrashing,
Cowboys spend a good deal of time
on Boot Hill,
praying over brown flowers and past ills.

Seems to me that this speaks more of the sinner than the sinned. The rising of Christ when the stone had been rolled away, and did she go to wash him or...(that would be sacreligious to say) then Boot Hill contained the sinners shot by the sheriff...good versus evil..but there was no judge or jury much like Christ's life. We all get to make up our own mind..to vindicate or to villify. Well that's me and I like this.

I'm reading this several ways. I need more time
to gather up my comment.
At one reading I felt the poem was representing the truth - lashing out at the mortar and brick which is what humankind has "built" and not really what Is
and despite the poem's life it died thrashing because no one understands or thinks it matters
but then I read it again and the poem seems to not be truth because it is coming from her insincere long fingers and only the fleshly ...
I like this. Not easy but chock full of places to go.
And I like Jesus in poems I am very holy you see.

Hey Lute, I like this..It's biblical, classical, and at the end a real 'shit kicker'
Sorry I'm not feeling profound this AM, I've only just recovered from the nipple war.
Thanks for your support.

You seem to have an hodge podge of writing here. I got the first and last stanza's, but you lost me in between.
