Remembering Selene

Resplendent goddess of distant times
who spread your glorious light
and lapped with silver rays the limbs
of women anxious to conceive,
see how your silent radiant disc
retained its magic over tides;
and whispers of your waning death
kept mortal nights in unlit space
until your sickle bright returned
to shine amid the waiting stars.
Ride the night in fullest glory
up and across the Milky Way;
then sleep your three-night death in peace
until you grace the sky anew
still promising enternity.

    This was so rhythmic, I looked for rhymes - it has a strong feeling of blank verse, though not the pentameter. Meter explains "sickle bright" which would be said more naturally the other way around; it is the only reversal I see, well done. The key to the imagery is "Selene" and you describe her phases beautifully. I enjoyed this, congratulations on your (appropriate) silver.

    This is a very nicely written poem about Selene. I am sure the goddess is very honoured. I'm glad you chose her, I really like Selene. Thanks for entering this!

    Blessings,
