Cold air sinking into every crevice of my body
as I stand amid the glory of the midnight sky
every star meticulously placed alongside another
adding up to an extravagance far beyond my grasp
The moon peeking behind clouds, illuminating the sky
as shadows stretch upon every shred of grass and tree
making them appear as nothing but a individual silhouette
while the wind apprehends each one, in its gentle potency
The sound of crickets chirping, clutter my ears
as i feel an unfamiliar relaxation possess me
the candied scents of hay, disperse through the endless hills
as I listen to the sounds of gravel cracking under my feet
Author notes
This poem was truly all inspired by Riftkin. We are nothing but mere strangers, so I'm not familiar with her, but her poetry speaks to me. I hope this is poem holds a sufficient amount of justice in appreciating such a generous and talented poet.
