We sit inside ourselves
We children of a lightless void
And ponder the darkness around us
The pain that sears our hearts
And rips from us the flesh of our emotions
To lay us bare to the cold vacuum
Of what was and what shall never be
We can see no color here
Not even the red of our blood
That flows free and drips from outstretched hands
As we eternally reach out for more
For help, for light, for love
But we feel nothingness
Like a blanket across our senses
And we thank the darkness for hiding our tears
