she brushed her teeth
more than once
took a bath and
painted her toes after
read for a moment
updated her homepage
answered some friends
watched some TV
went to the store
bought some makeup
and hair supplies
went to bed while
telling herself she was
way too busy to contact
the one she said she loved
for the fourth day
Author notes
This in no way reflects upon Queen Amera, as she is exactly the opposite of this.

I've been that busy before too!
Especially washing my hair! Men!!!
They think we women should be ready in an instant, when to be true there are times that we need a week off for . . . . . .
Well, a lovely poem and I'm not too busy to say so!
Thanks for your entry.

so she did...
hmmmmmmm... I am not certain why it matters that she bought make up and hair supplies instead of groceries, but however you choose to imagine this elusive "she," she's still intriguing...

It didn't mnatter what she bought... it is just the idea that her so-called "love" isn't one of her priorities.
What amazes me is that some people do not conceive that they are not really in love with someone they have no interest in "being there" for. Such a relationship is only need. -

the poet speaks truth... 'tis truth, this, yes, that the poet speaks...
I see your point... I'd raise you... consciousnesses, but you've already raised mine...

Powerful write with an important message. It is so important, I think, to tell loved ones that they are loved and cared about. This write makes me think of how I don't call my mother or aunt enough and that I should do that later on today. Good luck in the contest.

Was that a fourth day, in the 24 hour sense?
I like the steps that lead to the end of this.
I just wonder if:
"She" was pondering the degenerate, pitiable state of our overextended economy, or flirting with a Broadway hit.
Maybe the make-up she was buying was a vain attempt to cover up the dreaded circles under her eyes, the sullen, slack, cold stare from the exhausted day she had, working, raising a family by herself, and attempting to keep decent grades while going to nursing school...
And, why the hell didn't he contact her..?
But then, you're probably right, there might not have been a single thought in her head, but herself. I know far too many people like this, it's a shame..
Sorry for the epic, must've hit a little too close to home for me. I detest being regarded as shallow and selfish, and unaware of the hurts around me..
And, the best lesson I ever learned in my life:
It's NOT about ME..
Too bad more folks don't recognise it..
Have a happy day,
Jin

great poem and message...not love, just selfishness...the two don't connect!

Glad you said that in your notes. You are always first on my list because you don't care if I brush my teeth or not. Enjoyed this write.
Love,
Amera♥

There is only one Amera. However she chooses to present herself works for me.
