Silver Lining

Living this life, I spend my time
chasing my dreams in their ethereal realm.
I am so afraid to fall; I want to fly
but my wings have been broken for so long.

The rain can’t wash away my scars;
the sunlit skies can’t dry my falling tears.
But every cloud has a silver lining,
and you, my dear, are mine.

Standing at the edge of this chasm,
I can hear the echoes of voices down below.
Repeating my fears, flames around,
but even they can’t hold me when you’re near.

Promises never meant a thing;
lies: my history, my experience, my life.
The new day is risen, my sky lit.
My heart will be reborn in the warmth of your spirit.

Author notes

This was written a short while ago.
It's one of the few narrative poems in which I, personally, amd narrating.

The person it speaks to/about represents all of my friends, but a very special person in particular: my best friend, Lindsay (Headx1stForHalos here on AP).

Say whatever. I don't care.

    excellent

    Life can be difficult, and scary at times. You express this very well in this poem, and I love the images your words create.
    You also tell of a special person who acts as your cloud's silver lining. I wish you much happiness with him.
