And so the elven hero ran
Into the field where stood no man.
What else should rest but demon foe
With fire for wings, from head to toe?
Upon its sighting of the King
It stood its length in full standing-
Some twelve or thirteen feet it stood
And felt almighty as it should,
For who would dare to face this thing
Except our brave and friendless king?
He drew his blade so beaming bright,
It seemed as star shine in his sight.
He raised his shield he held aloft
And with a voice both strong and soft,
“So get thee hence, O demon grand
Expel yourself now from my land.”
The demon bellowed at his word,
“As you wish my gracious lord.”
His smile that showed a thousand teeth
Proved his malice lied beneath
All his clever sayings clear
Covered in darkness and with fear.
But our brave hero, resolute
Stood firm as oak with solid root
That ventures low beneath the soil
That proved the Elf would not recoil
From any blow that came his way
In that great battle on that day…

Without having been able to look at Canto 1 just yet this sounds a bit like a rhymed fairy tale and it's pretty well written for that. This really reminds me of children's books some. I'll be checking your other poem after I have my attempt at recognizing you by your style

So, I don't think you were one of the experiment's subjects, were you?
Thank you very much for entering.
