Do you remember when we met? (I shall until the day I die)
The memory is inscribed indelibly upon my brain.
I wondered if you'd let me close to you, and not ask why
I wondered if you knew your life would never be the same
Then one fine day I heard you say 'Please never let me go'
You knew that I was serious and not just playing games.
We spent some time reflecting on our mutual histories
So similar in some ways, yet in others far apart
The mysteries of elder days and time we soon found out
Had found a near and dear place in both our minds and hearts.
We'd been born just a little different, you and I,
Amidst and yet a bit apart from the common rank and file
Always quick to ask our questions, and to know the reasons why,
It seems to me that all we needed was each others smile.
The more that we're together, the more both of us have healed
The fragments of our hearts now blending whole again as one
As we continue, still more ways to growth have been revealed
Thus, we find ourselves improving with each rising of the sun.
We're told that life is but a journey and not a destination
Our journey is much happier now that we are not alone
So let me give both you and me some words of acclamation
You're doing good (I knew you would) My, how you have grown.
Now let me tell you one more thing, so you will know its true.
Your love for me makes my heart sing...Baby, I love you.
