They told me of this incident,
and explained my greatest loss.
I felt my heart drop and shatter,
as the glass did from the shelf,
when I revealed my fit of malice.
But despite their expectations,
Not once did I cry!
I evinced her the sword and knives,
the last of all precious keepsakes,
and she gazed with understanding bliss
But beneath her peace was a labyrinth,
of worry, and disguised agony,
Knowing this, ignoring the comfort she gave,
I refused to cry!
I gazed into the casket,
surrounded by his mourners,
His face rebuilt to its original,
I thought of al the mistakes,
and my soul filled with Melancholy,
as I left his wake,
I still did not cry!
We walk in the rain together,
Not speaking of where I was,
and what I had seen.
She gave her usual upliftment,
With comments ever so clever,
I laughed for once then deceased,
and resisted to cry!
With held tears over came my defenses,
As I buried my face within my palms,
And fell to the mud,
Weeping in my lap,
obviously distressed,
and I cried!
With a simple smile,
My best friend stared,
And calmly sighed,
with her clever tone,
“It's about time!!”

tears can help you feel when you are grieving. I too did not cry in the beginning but when I did it was like a damn had broken and then I just couldn't stop. I cried and cried. Til exhausted I had to quit.
Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for entering it into my contest. -
Simple, and satisfying. How our friends know us. They know what we need. And sometimes, that's just a good cry! I like the last stanza best.
