The very mention of his name
brings a smile to my lips
and casts a ray of sunshine
upon my downtrodden heart.
His presence fills the room
with a different light, and
all the world's complexities
suddenly make sense to me.
His arms are my fortress,
impenetrable and warm,
and within them, I am safe
from even the sharpest daggers.
Beneath his embrace, I am weak,
but my scars are healed, and
my impurities absolved, at
the slightest touch of his hand.
His kisses, unbridled and sweet,
forever imprinted upon my lips,
like a chemical burn, they are
a taste of Heaven, in my Hell.
But when he's gone, all is black.
My world is dark, I am alone,
as the fire within me dies,
permeated by my frigid nightmares.
Hollowness creeps into my heart.
and the sun sets upon my soul,
for I need him now, to breathe
his spirit into my lifelessness.
For, in his eyes, I see a world
distorted, yet hopeful, that
there will one day be an end
to the screaming in our hearts.
Author notes
This is for Travis, the one who means everything to me, and then some. He took me under his wing, in my darkest time, and showed me what it meant to truly care for someone. We were supposed to be 'friends with benefits', and nothing more, but I knew that it was love when the mere mention of his name made me smile, and being with him made me forget that I was going through a messy breakup. I tried to stop myself, but I had already fallen, hard, and I eventually found out that the feelings were mutual.
It has been 2 amazing years since then, my love, and you still have my heart. I will never forget what you've given me. I LOVE YOU! ♥♥♥
