There's dead bodies in the river
No one knows their names
Peter, Paul or Mary
Kids just keep on playing
'Round in the water
'Til mud seeps in their socks
Grab your sons and daughters
Put them behind locks
Because it's not safe outside for someone with limbs
It sounds so simple but it's over-fucking-complicated
There are trees in the forest
Planted by man
Some of those monsters
Came from seeds in a hand
Planted by a farmer
Planted on the edge of his land
Planted as a border
Cheaper than quicksand
But it takes some years for them trees to grow
It sounds so complicated but it's too damn simple
There's a forest near my window
And a stream through my lawn
This water stays connected
All winter long
But when the sun comes believe me it's gonna run
I'll put a message in my yard and send it to the ocean
I'm hoping you will read it
Do they teach you how to read?
They fill your mind with arts and crafts
But you still make time for me
There's always a lover
That's how it all works out
But don't play in dirty water
Unless you're gonna shout
"Stay in doors! You filthy animals!
You make it complicated when it's fucking simple!"
"Go outside! Do it for the kids!
You oversimplify what is too often complicated!"
Please tell me what you think
