Still and blue
As a shallow puddle over painted concrete
To affect depth I am painted
with humanity.
What will be lost?
As I stand before her
Ready with the delight which
I have practiced.
Could my smile be more
Contradictory in its
Apparent assurance
To tell her
Mysteries await her days
And years?
These moments practiced before the mirror
In reality
Do not seem wasted
And I will use them between the sheets.
“This is the place
And I will know you
(though never wholly)
You will be such laughter
And complexity.
Now wait here for me
With less anticipation
Your places do not swell with dark and light
Though I feel there may be beauty.
Hush, and be still,
And soon I will be still
As deep buried rocks.”
