writing the wrongs

she said:
“I cannot write without the pain
that fires my belly;
stokes the feelings
and creativity"

she nods and says:

“then write as a celebration”

she does not know how that might look

she has journeyed
with courage and faith
and with the knowledge
that wrongs needed
to be rewritten
if not righted

Bravo!
Encore!
More!

so she scrawls with fervor
and flickering embers in her belly;
[oh, the battle is not won]
the fight with herself is not over
but she is calmer,
more peaceful
and less afraid

she fears that words
without angst will be hollow
and empty and of course
her heroines
Plath and Sexton knew better
than her

she is still unsure
if she should celebrate...

a poem for a weary lasses heart. truly, most poetic words are bourn of angst, but.. if thought about... 'tina necessarly the only way. wors burning it our hearts and souls... 'tis passion that burns our bellies. and there, we can draw on deep wellspirnds of feling and knowleje. there , we can writ the sheer joy of breathtakeing monents, the roaring hearth of passion, or the glowing embers of deep, resounding peace. so much to write, if only one would venture out of sorrow, and on to unknowen paths.

lovely... and thank heaven fer the heroiens whom otf' do know better.

I love your opening lines, "the pain that fires my belly"...they set the reader right into the heart of the poem. Great play in the title. I like how you write of yourself in the third person. (at least I get a sense you are writing of your own feelings) I really, really like this write. - aM

sometimes the easiest way to write is to be forced to write... and nothing forces writing like pain. happiness distracts, but constant grief and sorrow... they linger. and when the only company you can bear is your own, the writing comes. but happy things are the ones you want to remember. and beauty wants to be written.

God girl, life ain't all pain ... looks like the whole stretch of human experience is what's worthy of art. Plath and Sexton didn't live in a bubble of depression all the time, you know. Depressed people just like to read other people's pain, but that doesn't mean a writer has to wallow in the blackness just for their sake. Write from the whole of your experience ... good and bad ... and definitely celebrate your strength! That's always a beautiful thing to witness! And I do love to witness a strong woman who understands the value of her strength

Loved the depth of thought and emotion here, the honesty of the voice. They say writing isn't therapy, but it can be so very therapeutic.

    Great piece of writing, Elaine!

Liked the wordplay within the title " writing the wrongs"
Understood the need to be fuelled by emotion to find the notion to scribe any kind of script.
Indeed if only life's lessons could be as easily edited by the press of a button.
The poetess does herself a disservice, her heroines Plath and Sexton did not know better than you, all woe is equal and the weight of it felt individually,
please feel to celebrate and create a new calendar.

There cannot be another Plath/Sexton but neither will there be another unique you!
