Desperate, he finds patience

There was no courage in his scars
nor in his laughter
that echoed in the marble halls
of the library in which he dwelt
alone with his unread books
covered in dust and boredom.
He searched for his soul
among poetry and art
didn’t think to look among the wreckage
of the reference section
destroyed by time
and out-of-date science.
He worried on
courage in his new-found silence
as he listened in wait
for spontaneous and honest laughter
that would overtake the dying whispers
of his life.

There is a real passion under these words that I respect and believe make for the bones in poetry.

    Thank you.

I really like the flow of this one. The lilt of the words you chose for this is just very natural and very unpretentious (in the best way).

    This is great:

    "He worried on
    courage in his new-found silence"

    Wonderful darling.
