Pretty little
hourglass
Made of bone and ebony
your fickle body is a stark contrast
against your heart of sand
Which strikes fear into the heart of man
and causes his fit of affronted pride
For, how does a man come to hate the thing he himself invented?
Is it your smooth curvature of glass and silver grains aside
or the passage of time, in itself demented, he hates?
Yes, while you my polished beauty always meet your criteria;
with your maker, it is not so.
But herein lies the answer, lodged within hysteria
and this deep seated anger prolonged in debate
Is foolish to forgo

Author notes
I chose the title "Hourglass" because of the potential images of linking on concrete noun (the glass) with one that is abstract (time). I enjoyed this challenge, eventhough I had to rewrite it twice for reasons of technical difficulty with my internet connection. =]
Hope you enjoyed the write.

I enjoyed this very much, it's a serious favorite so far! I love how you wove an intricate meaning of time into the hourglass itself and he who invented it, who's consequences aren't near as beautiful. This is brilliantly written, thank you so much for entering it! Keep up the great work!
