Violence!

Churches burned to the ground

Houses burning all around.

Faces showing the pains of growing up–

With no family to lean on.

Violence captured on TV screen–

Things that never should have been seen.

Mothers raped little girls by their side.

Little boys made to watch mouths open wide.

Author notes

My idea of what it would be like to live and possibly die in some of those third world countries.

Please tell me what you think

Thanks to each and everyone of you for commenting on this poem. It is one that I probably never should have written, but I just got to thinking about how people in the third world countries like Iran and Iraq live and it just came out before I really thought about it. Thanks again to all!

Thanks so much for giving me feedback on Violence. This site has changed so much over the last couple of years that I have a hard time finding my way around anymore and don't always find the comments to answer them.
      Thamks again!

Man's insanity is a fatal disease beyond his ability to cure. We televise our sickness day in day out, never really wondering where it came from. At least not to the point where we can find and remove the pathogen. And while humanity is awe struck over its own demise, the cameras continue to roll, taping the downfall of what could have been a miraculously beautiful thing. Thank you for creating this heartfelt and perceptive poem. Take care,

    Chris

    How Fortunate We Are,

indeed. Yet even here, churches continue to burn, specially in the South. Awe inspiring to realize just how easy a society can cross the line from normalacy into chaos.

You paint a vivid image, with few words. Knowing the reality of them, only adds to the intensity with which sears the mind.

    Thank you for sharing.

Pure Country: thsnk you for commenting on Violence. What part of Texas are you from? I lived in Houston way back in 1971 and El Doradon in 1984 for about six months at each place.

Wow. Powerful! And, I believe your idea of what it must be like is straight on. I am horrified at what humans can do to other humans. So many suffer at the hands of violent, greedy, self-serving, ignorant people and this is a war within wars. Strong write! Made me ponder, even get angry. Thank you for making sure we never forget.--Kel

    Dear Damon,
It must be terrible for the women and children in those third world countries to have to suffer the way they do. I too wonder what it would be like.
    A great write my friend.

      Hi Joan,
I thought I had answered this already--in fact I am sure that I did. Maybe it was in the note things--I don't understand the way the site has been changed while I was gone. We didn't have those notes before did we--only messages--is the way I remember it, and why do we need both? Notes and messages. Then the notes also work on the comments section too. That makes no sense to me.

Thanks again for commenting my friend.
