The Fall of Miranoste

A gentle twist of the wrist,
Great stone wolves guarding the old mountain pass,
The peaks towering over Miranostan Falls,
They watched and waited alas...

...their snowcapped vigil once held,
was gone,
Blood boiling in battle at now ruined walls,
Cruel magiks cast callously in those ruined halls.

Old man sitting by that gentle pool,
You dip your cup into Gyserian blood,
City once there upon that rise,
Was since drowned in battle's offal,
the crimson mud.

Old man, gentle beggar, poor peddler...
...friend,
This tranquil pool marks one valorous grave,
Smooth stone as if cut by sentient hand,
Where you sit sipping this cool, clear blood,
The last heroes of a dying kingdom made their stand.

Though slain to a man they knew not defeat,
The rumbling of ancient peak resounds,
Gentle beggar, poor peddler...hearken,
As the silent peace of their victory abounds.

This pool of water clear and cold,
Marks the grave of a prince and lover bold,
Passion for their people, the deepest well
Anointing the spot where good met evil,
The hallowed ground where love defeated spell.

The meter is very well done~ the rhyming isn't consistant, yet it's very well done. ~ What makes the piece so unique is the complete layout as the words flow together ~ I rather enjoyed this ~

Thanks for entering the "Set the bar" contest ~ I really appreciate you sharing your work with me ~ the best of luck to you~
