I spent two hours on my make-up.
Paid a fortune for my hair.
Normally I rush through these things,
But today took loving care.
I bought a brand new dress,
In your favorite shade of green.
You should have been here by now,
But you have not been seen.
I've spent all day dreaming,
'Bout the end of our date and that kiss.
And now I cant help but wonder,
Did I shave my legs for this!?!?

This made me smile
I love the ending on this poem. I like that it isn't the norm because of that. This poem has such great light-heartedness. I'm glad I read this!

Great poem with a funny little ending. It really does fit the picture. I have to ask: Has this happened to you before?

This has happened to me more with friends than with dates, I'll get all dressed up, and they never show. Thanks for reading.

I love this write, even though I am very picky about the rhymed poem that I like. good luck in the contest.

ah anticipation, it can be exciting and painful
at the same time, depending on which way the dice
fall in the end. One of my pet peeves is when others
think their time is way more valuable then mine and
are always late. Nine out of ten times I'll be early
if I say I'm be their at a certain time. My word is
bond which is why I rarely make promises unless I
know I can keep them.
If he fails to show totally, then give me a call
and I'll take you out for rootbeers.
Enjoy the remainder of the day for if you have not
enjoyed the last minute, you have wasted it.
Hugs...Eddy

Thank you for reading, Eddie.
It was a contest, did you see the picture to inspire it? Of course he failed to show.
I shall take you up on those rootbeers now, but can we make it a pepsi on the rocks instead?

Looks like you're one line off (the contest asked for 13 lines) but it's very pretty. It has mild humor, but it's also backed up by the pain of being stood up and left behind. I love it.
