Each time I think of you
the fissures ever widen
as my heart bleeds the sadness
of your hollow words of promise.
Silky smooth was your tongue
I the one desperately looking
hypnotised by your words
in honesty I truly believed.
Suddenly without warning, callously and spitefully
you threw off your cloak of charm
spitting forth your venom
as my veins turned to ice.
Piece by piece my spirit
is breaking away,
like an iceberg melting
I am drowning in isolation.
The thorns of the red rose
have perforated the petals
colour seeps and ebbs
into the melting sea.
The cards have been dealt
my hand has fallen
destiny has dealt bitter blows
and the breeze ceases to breathe.

The emotions tug at Spirit also
