See that guy in the Eagles jersey,
Wearing a Phillies cap?
That crazy, goofy one
With the beautiful smile
And really big heart?
Yeah, he’s my best friend.
Always been able to make me laugh
Even while enslaved inside his past
Around and around in a circle we go
Where we’re headed, neither one knows
His shoulder I lean on,
Whenever I’m weak
If I’m crying on the phone,
His voice rocks me to sleep
And even though sometimes
I’m vulnerable and scared,
He promised from the start that if I need him, he’s there
The best day of my life was when he walked in,
He’s never abandoned me through the thick or the thin,
I have never felt so happy and alive,
It’s amazing how different I am in his eyes
His palm is extended,
Whenever I fall,
If I know that I’ll cut,
His number I call
And even though sometimes,
I’m vulnerable and scared,
He showed from the start that if I need him, he’s there
See that guy in the basketball shorts,
Tapping his drumsticks on the desk?
Yeah, that silly, goofy one
Who’s never turned me away,
And tells me it makes his night whenever I’m happy?
Yeah, did you know?
He’s my best friend.

this is tender and honest, and it reminds me of myself. that was how i tried to be for my ex, but she wasn't nearly as good a friend to me as you are to this guy- everything in this poem speaks of your loyalty and your love for him. beautiful writing as always. i would not even criticize the punctuation on this. it is not my favorite poem by you, because my favorite poems tend to be dark, but it is very sweet, and i like
