One says white, one says black;
I'll move forward, you step back.
Like opposition of night and day,
most people would rather run away.
"I'll stand by your side" this one said,
but when it counts, you're left for dead.
It seems that (most)humans could care less
about your troubles, about your mess.
But when you're down, pulling out your hair;
you can count on me, I'll be there.
I won't run, won't turn the cheek;
I'll be your strength when you are weak.
And when they give you darkened lies,
I'll be the light within your eyes.
Until such time, there comes an end,
lean on me, I am your friend.

Prompt is quote on contest page. In all honesty, this is the first I recall seeing this little poem. If I had heard it in my childhood, I do not recall.
My take, in a world of oxymorons, so much of society will tell you anything just to get what they want/need. I hate that. If you're a friend, you're a friend, and I will stand with you.
