I did what I could, I値l do what I can.
Dreaming of ways to give a smile back,
Let her grief wash away with the tides.
Couldn稚 stop it happening
death is the inevitable .
Occasionally there are happy thoughts
back to their time together.
Sad tears staying at bay with chances
to smile at fond memories and hold
hope for tomorrow.
Still, sleeping alone
after so much time with him,
the hardest adjustment ever.
I look in on her
she sleeps middle of the bed,
hugging a tear-stained pillow.
I do what I can,
Staying with her.
Pulling her close and making
her feel warm.
Dreaming of ways to give a smile back,
Let her grief wash away with the tides.
Couldn稚 stop it happening
death is the inevitable .
Occasionally there are happy thoughts
back to their time together.
Sad tears staying at bay with chances
to smile at fond memories and hold
hope for tomorrow.
Still, sleeping alone
after so much time with him,
the hardest adjustment ever.
I look in on her
she sleeps middle of the bed,
hugging a tear-stained pillow.
I do what I can,
Staying with her.
Pulling her close and making
her feel warm.
Author notes
This is something I started writing a while back in regards to my sister and some hurt she was going through...I have finally finished it lol...The and 'what I can' Is indeed that I continue to be there for her, now as she is a single mother and forever

I'm sure you feel better for finishing this poem. It was very sad to read but there was also the love of one sister for another and your promise of continued support to lift the spirits. You put your feelings into words so beautifully yet with a simple honesty.
love always

Aww, this was very sweet and sad. Heartwarming towards the end. Your sister must be very happy to be related to you. Single mothers are some of the strongest human beings in this planet. My mom raised my 2 brothers and I by herself and I will forever admire and thank her for that. I'm sure your sister's child (children?) will do the same.
My best wishes to her. -

thank you, my dad raised my sister and I on his own..I think we both always wanted to not have that for kids etc etc, but life is life and it does happen
She is a brilliant and wonderful single Mom to her daughter. She has such strength and she shows me, one cna make it OKAY

Thank you again, very kind words
