In the U.S.

Constantly living under recognisance
We live in the U.S.
Anything but a resistance
Diet cokes & mall meccas
No pinnacle vendettas
Just cones of indoctrinated stigma
Siphoning deceit,
and a semblance's of stability
Wake up in a manipulated reality
Its like we don't think we deserve better,
than prozac an the grim reaper
Someone devour me,
I'm feeling empty
In the U.S.

eh its true.... but even as good as we have it here in the USA most dont see it u know the land of open doors any one can do anything one day with nothing the next day the richest man on earth... and the problem isnt so much the goverment its the people here no one wants to vote they just wanna complain ... no one wants to get up and fight for what is right they just wanna sit and cry and complain some more... instead of standing up and fighting for yourself or your country you get on a website and write a poem about it..... if any one really wants to make a difference that difference cant be made here it has to be done out there.... and the only reason the goverment even has a step forward into nafta the one world super goverment is cause people refuse to listen take the time to read about what they are voting for and just watch tv and take what they tell them.... you dont know who is promoting those adds on tv its probably bushes oil tycoon business paying for it .... if u wave the flag shoot the person running across the border taking our welfare money and taxes that they consider free money and me and you are working for and read the next proposition before voting for it

if you wanna fight you cant do it sitting down

Well I think Buckminster Fuller said it best..."You never change anything by fighting something that is already existing. To change something, build a new model and make the existing thing obsolete. " So until together consciousness is at a place where we can revolutionize ourselves and thus our country, I write about it, a lot. Voting is an illusion they give you to maintain our delusion that we are free. Besides, its not the land of freedom, its the land of liberty, which imply that it is given, not inherent, so they can take away our liberties all they want because they granted them. You are definitely right that the people are a bigger problem than the government. The few have no power over the many unless we give it away. And I fight plenty, I write about it too.

    Good, but...

Hey, why don't you come to South America or any place outside? I guess you need to taste some different realities. I bet everybody can say the same about its own country and all.

yea, the world's governments completely suck. I hope they don't get their way and merge into one world government. At least then it would be out in the open. I just want to live in reality.

      Thanks for your comment.

    Dissapointing... but well written

It is a beautifully written poem on your part. In fact it is one of the better ones i have seen in a while... But like I said it is by its very design, dissapointing that you feel that way about the united states... ((Or maybe i am just biased because i am partial to being able to wear what i want and say what i want when i want to... for the most part at least.)

I am probably less free to do some things then other peopl. For example if I felt like this, and said it at work, i would probably be out of a job. but then that is my choice to make i suppose.

You are lucky that you can publically say that you dissagree with the president, because the people that [retty much sacrifice everything they ave to give you that right can't.

Once again, it is argueable, the validity of this poem, but it is a very good write, one that i would reccomend everyone take more then o ne look at.

That's a very opinionated subject to write about, and this poem speaks a lot! I love the word choice and vocabulary. I think it would be kinda cool if you switched the first two lines and made the "U.S" line just "In the U.S." to match the last line. I don't know. Jus my thoughts. Great job. Oh, and that's a friggin' sweet background!

    too familiar

great write, and one that is so scarily familiar as the uk becomes and more like the u.s. I am sure many people feel the same way-seems to me that the countries ordering the rest of the world to westernise and become democratic societies are the ones guilty of ignoring the reality of the concept. WE can be heard, we are in charge-governments only have the power that we allow them to have, so maybe we should all start waking up, and preserving what makes democracy great. Cool background-biting poem.

Prozac and booze and taxes and work and death.
    The American agenda.
And all those shit heads that think we should count our blessings,
should go down to the inner cities and count the bodies and the bullets and the missing fathers and the crack pipes that our well intended Americans look the other way at because, well, shit they must be terrorist any way cause they aint white and oh ya,tell an 9 year old in New Orleans to count his blessings, the dark one who cant even read let alone count. If you work, I dont know where, take a look at your pay check, where the f..k is our money going any way, everything is so peachy here, were telling other countries they have to be like us or well take over. This is bull shit, I fought in Nam for this shit, to see my brothers and sisters on the street, homeless! Who gives a shit about Iraq, were dying here!
Again, the combination of my passion and your fuel of intellectual and political poetry is explosive.
I will be beside you in the new revolution my sister!
Needles to say, a great great write.

With just a great big helping of respect,
    LOWELL POE.

I agree with this piece. Yeah, the US is the free-est country in the world, but I think we take for granted the ability we have to educate ourselves, and end up becoming ignorant to what happens outside our borders.

Great diction, and this is a message all Americans should read!

I would say we are just as ignorant to what is going on inside our borders. That is by design.

don't mean to sound like a meany or a hillbilly but i still kinda feel the u.s. is the best country.
and was wondering ... this just might be my personal opinion but i thought the vocubulary kind of seemed ... thesaurusy
    background was a great choice.
    fantastic editing as well.

You go Creatress! Once upon a time when I was a kid, the people down at the Court House would actually talk very nice and polite to the citizens that came in to do their business; even if a citizen got nasty with words about the government, the PUBLIC SERVANTS stayed respectful, after all they chose to do what they do and the citizens where paying their bills, and had the RIGHT since it was THEIR GOVERNMENT. Oh, if the people only knew the power they really have, and would use it, and stop being subjects, and start being citizens again. Anywho, just my rant; and by the way, 4th line from the end, I think you meant "and" instead of "an". Nice work, keep on speaking up!
