[Verse 1]
In a hand written letter,
From a child in Maine,
More powerful words,
He couldn't say,
He could deal, with most things,
He was strong, he was tough,
But after this letter,
He didn't have enough
[Chorus]
I miss you, daddy,
I miss you more each day,
I want you here daddy, I miss how we play,
Please come home,
I don't want to wait no more,
Because, I love you, I can't live without you,
Signed, your baby girl
[Verse 2]
It'd been 6 months to the day, since he'd left
He missed her pretty face,
And her, little, hands,
Out here, he's alone, even with his friends,
Fighting this war, protecting the lands,
[Chorus]
I miss you, daddy,
I miss you more each day,
I want you here daddy, I miss how we play,
Please come home,
I don't want to wait no more,
Because, I love you, I can't live without you,
[Verse 3 - Soft]
Standing outside with her family and friends,
They stand looking down, filled with pain
She stands up to say, some final words,
Can't see her tears in the rain, but you, can read, the stone
[Chorus - Powerful]
I miss you, daddy,
I miss you more each day,
I want you here daddy, I miss how we play,
Please come home,
I don't want to wait no more,
Because, I love you, I can't live without you,
[Chorus - Softer]
I miss you, daddy,
I miss you more each day,
I want you here daddy, I miss how we play,
Please come home,
I don't want to wait no more,
Because, I love you, I can't live without you,
Please, tell me what you think of the storyline of the song.

beautifully written and touching. I fell it does depict a daughters longing for her father to return, but also glorifies him by mentioning how he is out fighting for the safety of his family and his country. Great write!
P.S. Are you from Maine yourself? -
This is a real cry of the heart and very honest poetic journey of the soul of the poet..a great write ...and thank you so much sharing this with the readers..well done...
