Concentrate on living, else
The sun shines through and darkness shies
But light only illuminates
The tangled web of love and lies
Is confusion what I am?
The impulse and the logic vies
The rivalry, contrasting thoughts
What’s the goal; what is the prize?
I don’t know my very self
Beneath my normal-person guise
I live my life ignoring this
Immersing myself in the highs
There won’t be answers for me;
For that’s not what a question buys.
Focus, see the memory live
Until the broken image dies.
One escape from my own mind
Is to cut the conscious ties
Only to find fevered dreams
Of diamond feathers and laughing eyes.
