It's been two whole years
Since I last saw your eyes
An email twice a week
Is not even a fair try
To keep a spark alive.
You can say that it still hurts
You can claim that you still pine
But if you're at all like me
You must have realized
The spark is not alive.
But now that I think back
Did it ever really rise?
Was it ever more than that
Or just a waste of time
To keep that spark alive?
You've started to move on
But you still walk the line
You drew when you started out
It's time for a new life
The spark is not alive.
And it was just a spark at that!
Author notes
Being me, I had to go a different direction from everyone else. This is also my first poem written in a goodly number of months. If you don't like it, please tell me, that's fine with me.
