Duality

Chiseled face as anger revealed
in aspect to round eyed warmth
and beneath common cover of existence
persistent duality;

might the chariot make a team
to draw fast frictioning wheels
scraping across concourse of skies,
fierce and gentle spirits in a bonding blend.

Would the Janus face of joy and sorrow
my yesterday and your tomorrow
'neath coppered captain's crown turn
unto our wants or desires, or simply stand
waiting upon our desperate prayers;

have we found the mirror of life and soul
fastidious meddling 'pon surface of deep waters
while joy of life passes to appreciation.

Precious persistence, dear duality
separated not as night after day
but as feeling and mood, free will;
a choosing time.

Author notes

Cooment: this was an art interpretation of face of sun and moon; dual nature inherent in so many aspects of life, we are coming and going...Janus. Even within personalities, we become a blend of our extremes.

    A agree this is a well written peice that allows some interpretation to it's reader. Well done. I would say this is more sublime than abstract but ofcourse, what is abstract and how does one define it. Well done here. :-)

    Wonderful abstract - love the juxtaposition of ideals and the way the write flows smoothly. Very well-written. Congrats on the bronze.

    Thank you for this entry to the contest. Your poem is lovely, a considered reaction to the picture prompt. My favourite line /Would the Janus face of joy and sorrow
    my yesterday and your tomorrow/ and the final line is very strong.
