For an agonizing eternity of sunsets
I faced every eve in desperate aching loneliness,
as a frail shell of tattered and dead nerves
death's reaper viewed with prayer of release
from the silence starvation
where no one ever wanted
to embrace my sorrow stained soul.
One single fated second brushed by Cupid's trace of breath
brought an angel into my hellish torment,
who placed love's candle upon my ruinous, decaying heart,
until she help me with her merciful, caring hands
to erect again joy's temple on the barren desert I called life.
In her arms the affection's embers were stirred
sending passion's brightest flames into my every shadow,
a light shining with Heaven's gold
which evaporated every pained memory
leaving my eyes only able to see her beautiful face.
Under the mantle of intimacy's tent have I found in my beloved
all that is chanted in verse by quills
the most precious caress that I could ever know.
Words come to my lips that now glow from seeing her image
causing such intense streaks of happiness within my essence
over each precious hour I have to treat as one day of pure ecstasy
when my lips can say with all my truest desire,
I love you.
