The rain is a tumble -ing
d
o
w
n,
as I write this in me bed.
In a little flat in London Town,
with two birdies on me head.
They are two, fine companions,
and the very best of friends,
coconspirators and lovers,
always in the lion's den.
They've been here for many years,
and that's a long, long time,
they like to hear me sing a song,
and they love to pantomime.
When I sing - they sing along!
YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE'S one they love!
When the sky's a rumble-ing,
they're as timid as a dove.
They are pretty, junk-food junkies,
just like their Daddy is,
Two little birds of paradise,
smarter than a wiz.
They're into Rock & Roll,
The Beatles and The Stones!
I found them many years, ago,
on the long road home.
That's when I drove a magic bus,
filled with peace and love,
known as Mellow Yellow,
that fit me like a glove.
I drove her for one hundred years,
all around the world,
over the tallest mountains,
with a very, pretty girl.
And that pretty girl's still with me,
Saffron is her name,
sleeping in me yellow bus,
in the lightning and the rain.
One of these days - and it won't be long,
I'll drive that bus again,
on the bottom of the ocean,
to see all me old friends.
We'll fly around the galaxy,
and roll on every star,
with the serenity and ecstasy,
that you won't find in a car.
BUT FIRST I have more tales to tell,
about my family,
about a double wedding,
near a castle by the sea -
about Cowboy Bob and Granny,
GrandPa and Cara Lou,
Sunshine Girl and Little Legs,
and Michelle's sisters, too -
Mr. Howard and many more,
Lily, Happy and Fe Fe,
Suzy Q and Pyper Rain,
Dillon, Dionte, Jim, and me -
Fisher Cat and Growler,
Talking Toad and Miss Kitty,
Jack 'The Rabbit' - Tom 'The Turtle'.
Mars Bar and Hilly.
And we can't forget small Noah,
and the way he waved Bye Bye,
to Finty & Fiona,
as our bus flew through the sky.
I hear 'The Toad's' are waiting,
and they're tired of growing old,
YES, they're anxious to be young, again,
just a rollin

AND SO IT BEGINS - ONCE AGAIN! This poem will be the intro - to THE LONG ROAD HOME - my fifth book of my YELLOW BUS of PEACE & LOVE travels and adventures.
As with my LITTLE STAR books - my YELLOW BUS books are meant to be read from the first page to the last like the chapters of a novel.

oh gods... this poem made me cry coz it reminded me so much of home. i miss liverpool... im into birds and had two cockatiels... unfortunately my daughter thought they wouldnt mind meeting a dog. although i gotta admit... i do hate london... the price fer a pint!!! gods... u practically gotta work a week to buy a pint lol. wonderful wording and would love to read more.

lol this could not have been a more appropriate start yesterday, to the Long Road Home because it really was pouring with rain all day yesterday. The roads and paths are flooded again and I spent much of the day wading through mud baths. I had forgotten just how many of us were travelling together on the little yellow bus so this first poem was a nice reminder. Your feathered companions are a fine pair and I've seen the pictures of them getting up to mischief lol.
