It was just another
quiet night on the town.
I was walking the streets
at 3am, as you do -
the lights and sounds blaring
from all directions
as they do -
and the night was beautiful
and alive.
As it is at such times
round here.
I casually sauntered
up to the windows.
The women danced,
unashamed of falaunting
gutless bodies
God, I would,
look at all the body
that isn't there... yuck
I take my glance
more deserving places.
The passers by,
mostly the young
snappy type, you know -
so much to do
and see
and fuck
there is no time
for an old man
like me.
Like I care what
they think...
I'm having fun.
I carry on.
And as I admire
the atmosphere,
the surroundings and
social
chemistry
I s'pose you's call it
I finally
being to see
this place
ain't what it used to be...
But it won't be chased away from me
by no young, punk-ass - punks.
the thought slips through my head,
as my favourite pub door
beckons invitingly -
as it does.
Without a second glance I slip inside -
ah, bliss.
