Had we truly understood
the consequences,
perhaps we would have turned
in second thought.
Or atleast taken
further precaution.
The nights spent up
trying to mend their howls
could have been
our nights of pleasure.
Now all we have is wailing.
I would never say
I didn't love them,
just that the time was wrong.
For I so miss the days
that we could spend alone.
But now this is
the hand we're dealt,
and we dealt it to ourselves.
So we know too late,
and now I still hear
the children playing.
the lesson never ends.
