I woke up this morning quite late,
now my boss will be highly irate.
I missed the damned bus,
and its making me cuss,
It’s not only Mondays I hate.
So I ran out the door just half dressed.
why on earth did I have my pants pressed?
As I pulled on my shirt,
my lunch fell in the dirt,
eight o’clock and I’m already stressed.
These are the days that I dread,
they give me a pain in my head.
I know I just woke
but it feels like a joke,
I think I’ll just go back to bed.

The background is ironic going along with this type of poem! "I think I'll go back to bed". Funny, and probably what most people think as the day starts out bad.

lol I know the feeling when the mornings are a rush, which is most of them, though I haven't been late for work for a very long time. I think limericks are one of the best forms for humorous pieces as the rhythm makes them jog along at a pace. I'm not that keen on Monday mornings and I think all mornings should start about 10am as it's a much more hospitable hour than 6am.
